Apply to be an On-Call Worker at the BSC!
 
BSC Opportunities
 

The BSC often needs temporary workers to assist in operations when workloads increase or when assigned workers are absent.  We are now accepting applications from members interested in on-call job opportunities.  There is no guarantee that work will be available, which departments will need workers, or the duration of assignment.


Compensation:

Workshift Rate, currently $14.00/hr. for actual hours worked.  No benefits are associated with this position.


Requirements:

Must complete an I-9 and safety training with the BSC.


Types of jobs:

CFS (central warehouse) shifts, operational work (e.g. move-out and cleaning crews), and clerical work.

Emergency Alerting
 

On July 1st The City of Berkeley will switch from the old BENS system to a new AC Alert system.  
Signing up for the system allows you to get emergency information directly to the device that will work best for you in the format that is best for you, including emails, text messages, TTY/TDD messages, and voice calls.  Please do the following:

CERT/CPR Trainings Available Now
 
The Berkeley Fire Department has recently announced new CERT training opportunities y'all should be aware of. The dates/topics for these trainings are:
 
 
If you are in a small/medium sized unit, you must have at least 3 CERT trained managers 
If you are in a large unit (Cloyne, CZ, Fenwick, Rochdale) you must have at least 5 CERT trained managers. 
 
In addition to that, the BSC is offering Free CPR and First Aid classes this Saturday, July 8th. These classes are reserved for managers and BSC staff. This class is held in the Rochdale Common room and will run from 10:00am till 5:00pm. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. One CPR trained manager can count towards the requirement and can be cover one of your CERT trained spots. Don't wait--these spots go fast!
