BSC Black/People of Color Circle

image

The BSC Black/POC Circle serves as a platform for people of color to come together and engage in a serious discussion about what we need as a community within the BSC. We understand that some folks do not feel safe in their own units and wish to create a space where folks can openly engage without fear of retaliation or feeling like they are being surveilled.

We are represented by several houses/apartments on south-side but wish to one day have all housing units present in this space. We encourage any and all Black/POC members of the coops to come to this space and work toward keeping the BSC and ourselves more accountable to each other and marginalized identities present at the BSC! See you all there this Saturday 2-4pm at the Person of Color Theme House!

Board is happy to announce the first ever BSC Mural Contest! We’re not 100% sure it’s the first ever (we’ve been around for a long time, so who knows…), but either way it’s new and exciting!

The theme of this contest? The BSC Mission Statement. And if you don’t remember, our mission is to, quote, provide a quality, low-cost, cooperative housing community to university students, thereby providing an educational opportunity for students who might not otherwise be able to afford a university education.

Rally your house or apartment! The top three units will win money directly into their house account, 1st - $500, 2nd - $300, 3rd - $200. Murals will be judged on visibility, number of members participated, mission statement relevance (bonus points for including the mission statement explicitly) and more. Email Kelly Archer at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if your unit intends to paint and if you have any questions. Murals are due by April 16th
